Sydney Bus Companies - Sydney Airport E-Tag Registrations for Bus Companies

25th April 2011

Sydney Airport E-Tag Registrations

Information for Limousine, Bus, Shuttle Bus and Coach Companies

The new e-tag system, which will replace the current paper ticket system, for access to the bus and coach pick-up zones at Sydney Airport is designed to facilitate the efficient entry and exit of buses, coaches & limousines / hire cars.

It will make the experience for customers easier and quicker.
All civil work has been completed and the equipment installed. The next phase of the project is a rigorous testing regime to ensure an accurate, robust and fault free system for all operators. Testing includes driving more than 1,000 vehicles through the pick-up zones using all types of vehicles (coaches, minibuses, stretched limousines and buses) and conducting full end-to-end testing of the registration and billing systems.
Online registration will be available from 6th June 2011.

Some important points for registration:

  • You must register your business, vehicles and e-tags and sign a ground transport operator license and have your registration approved before you will be permitted to enter any Sydney Airport passenger pick-up zone.

When registering you will need to supply your:

  • Accreditation number
  • Vehicle registration
  • E-tag number

* Sydney Airport’s fees for limousines, buses, shuttle buses and coaches are time- based. This means the access fee will be charged through your e-tag account based on the length of time your vehicle remains within the passenger pick-up area. Fee information will be contained in the license agreement which will be made available as part of the registration process on 6 June 2011.

Only registered operators will be able to gain access to the passenger pick-up zones through the access gates which will be present on all entries. This will help to prevent touting and will maintain high standards for passengers.

Another information release will be issued closer to 6 June 2011 which will contain further details about the registration process. Subject to the extensive testing currently being undertaken, the anticipated go-live date for the e-tag system is 5th July 2011.
